Meet William “Will” Boddie, Jr.
Community Champion. Servant Leader. Advocate for Working Families.
William “Will” Boddie, Jr. is an accomplished attorney, former Georgia State Representative, and the 2022 Democratic Nominee for Georgia Labor Commissioner. A proud native of Atlanta, Will is a 1995 graduate of Banneker High School in College Park and earned his degree from Valdosta State University in 1999.
In 2016, Will was elected to the Georgia House of Representatives, where he served District 62—which includes parts of South Fulton and Eastern Douglas County—for six years. His leadership was quickly recognized by his peers, who elected him as House Minority Whip in 2018, making him the second-highest-ranking Democrat in the chamber after just one term. He also served as Communications Chair for the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus (GLBC), helping shape messaging around key policies impacting Black communities statewide.
During his time in the House, Will fought for everyday Georgians and served on several critical committees, including:
- Budget & Fiscal Affairs Oversight
- Judiciary Non-Civil
- Small Business Development
- Special Committee on Access to the Civil Justice System
He was also an active member of both the Georgia Working Families Caucus and the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus.
Will is deeply engaged in civic and political life. He is a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., the 100 Black Men of Atlanta, Inc., and the Georgia NAACP. As a lifelong Democrat, he holds active memberships in the Democratic National Committee (DNC), the Democratic Party of Georgia (DPG), and the Democratic Committees of Cobb, Fulton, and Douglas Counties, as well as the South Fulton Democrats.
In his professional capacity, Will remains committed to legal excellence and community development. He is a member of:

His dedication to small business and local economic growth is evident through his involvement with the South Fulton Chamber of Commerce, Douglas County Chamber of Commerce, Douglas County Small Business Society, and the City of Douglasville Housing Committee.
Will has also given back through education and mentorship. He served as a faculty member for the Personal Development Academy of the Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys (GABWA) and is a frequent guest lecturer and panelist at colleges and universities across Georgia. His speaking engagements have included:
Valdosta State University, Morehouse College, Columbus State University, Clark Atlanta University, Savannah State University, University of West Georgia, Albany State University, Middle Georgia State University, Fort Valley State University, and Mercer University.
Will is a fifth-generation legacy and lifelong member of Antioch Baptist Church North in Atlanta, where his strong faith and commitment to service continue to inspire his work in the community. He currently resides in Smyrna, Georgia, with his loving wife, Debra.
